After deciding to focus their attention on Dying Light, however. I understand why Wingefors had to deflect, but he also can’t blame us for wanting any bit of information we can get about a game we’ve been looking forward to for this long.įor a long time, fans had given up any hope for the game, and thought that plans for its release would slowly fizzle out. Techland developed the first Dead Island game, so naturally they planned to make the sequel. It’s a cryptic comment at best, but it’s also the first we’ve heard of anything about the game for years. For context, the company’s financial year ends on March 31, 2023. As above poster said, the original DI dev is now making Dying Light.
So, is that reasonable, and what can we expect from a title that has been in development for probably 10 years or so?”Įmbracer CEO Lars Wingefors responded that the company does have an “unannounced AAA project” that the host thought might be Dead Island 2, but that he couldn’t comment further. The only difference is that dead island 2 looks more gorey and more of a cartoon look. The comment in question came from the event’s host: “It very clearly is, and I at least expect the release this financial year, or sorry next financial year, I should say. At an earnings presentation last week from Deep Silver’s parent company, Embracer Group, we finally got some information that could point to a launch for Dead Island 2 as early as 2023, as reported by VGC. #DEAD ISLAND 2 DYING LIGHT UPDATE#
We finally got an update last week though, bringing to a close the years-long silence we had been enduring from Deep Silver, the game’s developer. Dead Island 2 was first announced at E3 in 2014, and has been in development hell for around a decade. Instead, we’ve gotten radio silence for the better part of ten years. According to Henderson there’s a chance the game could release later this year, or failing that, in 2023.After the success of the first Dead Island game, players expected and looked forward to a sequel relatively soon. Of course, as always, take this with a grain of salt until we get an official confirmation.ĭead Island 2 has been announced for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Eventually you do escape and then what happens is you're then on Hollywood Boulevard, and then you need to continue fighting, looting, ect. Then it can apparently take a couple of hours to actually escape in the sewers, because of course, there's a few nasty surprises. The person that told me this information did say it was, but just to take a little bit of caution, I'm not going to say for definite that it's Beverly Hills.Īfter you've found a weapon and you've looted up, what happens is a massive horde of zombies starts to horn in on you, and because you have limited weapons and resources, you make your way down into the sewers to escape. Now, it's not entirely clear if this is Beverly Hills. So, what you need to do is loot up to fright the living dead and you by looting all of the mansions found in your surroundings. For some reason, you manage to survive and its then your job to survive on the ground.
Eventually what happens, is that the plane does crash, and it crashes into Hollywood. What seems to happen at the start of Dead Island 2 is that you're on a plane and there's a zombie outbreak.
